Virtual Learning is similar to in person learning. We focus on maintaining routine and educational structure while motivating and engaging student learners through interaction and feedback, promoting creativity and monitoring student progress.

4 year old Preschool and Kindergarten Virtual Learning

  • Packets of materials (worksheets, coloring pages, crafts, etc) prepared, sent home or delivered to families digitally

  • Recorded small group and large group lessons

  • Recorded Social Emotional and Bible stories

  • Weekly contact with parents through phone calls, text messages and emails

  • Weekly office hours through googlemeets or zoom to see the students and answer questions from parents/families

  • Providing parents/families with information on online learning sites that they can use to engage their student: Khan Academy for Kids, ABC Mouse, DragonBox Numbers, Coral Reef by Tinybop, etc.

1st- 8th Grade Virtual Learning

  • All students have been provided with usernames and passwords to log into the CCS class specific google classroom. Parents can also request this information from the teacher to support their student at home.

  • Students log into the google classroom and join the class live.

  • Students interact with teachers and staff and are expected to be courteous. Students are asked to keep the microphone on mute unless answering or asking a question, due to the background noises at home.

  • Teachers can use the CHAT feature to talk with students at home for private conversations, as not to disrupt other students working independently in class.

  • Students working from home can log out of class during lunch, recess, specials, and other assigned breaks. Some classes take the computer to specials for classmates to participate, like music and choir. Students learning from home can stay online during breaks to chat with their friends as time allows.

  • Students' books and materials are gathered and sent to the office for parents to pick up or arrange for a drop off. Teachers can scan more materials as needed, depending on how long the student is working from home.

  • Teachers can create links to the top of the google classroom page for documents and videos that students can access at home. Teachers can also scan or take pictures of what is needed and post it on google classroom. Teachers can record their lesson and students can access it if they can’t attend the class live.

  • If the student is gone for a short length of time from the face to face classroom, quizzes and tests can be taken when they return to school.

  • If students or parents have questions during a class they can ask and receive feedback/responses from the teacher. If they are missing materials they can ask for them and the teacher will scan and send them via email when time allows.

  • To turn in materials students or parents will share it digitally to the teacher for evaluation/grading, through google classroom or email.

  • Student reading books are generally available digitally or through an audio book online, if they don’t have them at home.

The school day starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm for kindergarten-8th grades. The daily and weekly schedules for each class vary a little by grade, but your student should generally know what is happening when throughout the day. Parents can ask the teacher for a copy of the schedule if needed.
